Warriors Launch Counter-Attack

The Golden State Warriors, seemingly dazed by the Clippers haymaker of move, sliding Baron Davis from right underneath their nose, launched their counter-attack on Clippers offering a Elton Brand a huge contract worth 90million dollars for 5 years, 20 million more than the contract the Clippers offered Brand. The Warriors who just missed tying the 1971-72 Phoenix Suns mark for the best record without making the playoffs by one game, were at one time assured by Baron Davis that he would not opt out of his contract, however at the same time it wasn't an unknown fact that Davis was rather perturbed by the fact that Golden State refuse to give him the long-term extension he wanted. This added to the fact that, the Los Angeles native, Davis has not so subtly made it known he would love to play in his hometown set the stage for a monumental acquisition for the Clippers and the creation of a huge void in the Warriors line-up. The ball is now Brand's court, left with the decision of taking a pay cut and playing with a star the calibur of Davis or getting a pay raise and playing with a team coached by Don Nelson with budding star Monta Ellis and talented cast of supporting players most of whom were apart of the team that took down #1 seed Dallas in the 2007-08 playoffs. Popular opinion would suggest that Brand most likely won't pass up the chance to play with Davis but who knows what could happen?
